Sussex town has a new way to shop – no prices, just haggle!

A new way to shop has landed in Worthing, possibly the only place in the country where nothing is priced and you haggle over what to pay.

Graham Jones, 41, came up with the idea 15 years ago but it is only now that he has been made redundant as a transport manager that he has been able to put his plan into practice.

He opened Haggle it in Warwick Street on Saturday and says it has been really well received.

“It’s never been done before,” said Graham, who recently moved to Lancing from Worthing.

“Nothing has a price and there is not even a guide. People make an offer on what they think it is worth and we will have a haggle. Whatever price we end up on, we guarantee it will be 50 per cent cheaper than the high street.”

There are brand new clothes with designer names as well as secondhand clothes, a toy corner where children can play to their heart’s content, gifts, jewellery and a few oddities, like plant pot holders made from dolls’ heads.

Graham said: “People have really loved it. We have done really well, way beyond expectation. We are not offended by any offers but actually people have been realistic.

“Even if people are a bit dubious, I give them a bit of a nudge.

“We set out to help single parents and we just wanted to have some fun with it. I have just been made redundant, so we thought we would give it a go.

“I got the oddities because I wanted something where people would say ‘oh the shop with the weird things in it’.”

The website will launch in January and will be run by Graham’s daughter Jessica, as he prefers the face-to-face haggling.

“We are hoping to rival eBay,” said Graham.

He has done a lot of research, at car boot sales and markets, and says he has not been able to find a shop like it, where people can haggle.

Graham managed a shop at Gatwick Airport early in his career and thought of the idea for Haggle it while on holiday in Lanzarote.

He explained: “We go there three times a year and they have a market where everyone haggles. We bought the name and have the tagline ‘our price, in YOUR hands!’. We have tried to put a bit of Del Boy into it. There is even an open stock room, so there are no secrets.”

Brighton and Hove Albion striker Aaron Connolly keen to repeat his finest hour against Tottenham Hotspur

Brighton and Hove Albion striker Aaron Connolly hopes his injury problems are behind him and is ready to tackle Tottenham Hotspur once more.

Connolly, 19, has impressed greatly during his breakthrough season at Albion. His finest moment arrived earlier this campaign when he produced a man of the match performance during a 3-0 victory against Spurs at the Amex Stadium in October.

It was the Irishman's first Premier League start and he was a total menace to established Premier League and international defenders Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen and capped his afternoon with two superbly taken goals.

Connolly was immediately called-up for the Republic of Ireland national team where he featured against Georgia and Switzerland.

A couple of niggling injuries - one sustained in the first half at Manahcetser United and the other during an excellent display at Arsenal - has slowed his progress but a lively second half showing against Sheffield United last Saturday has made him a strong contender to start at Jose Mourinho's Tottenham on Boxing Day.

"His (Graham Potter's) message to me when I was coming on (against Sheffield United) was to just work hard, make runs and try to cause problems," said Connolly.

“I’d like to think I am over all the injuries. It has been a bit of struggle the last couple of weeks with the groin and then my hamstring. It is just about trying to find out how not to pick up little injuries.

"It is another big year coming up for me in 2020. If someone told me I would be in this position this time last year I wouldn’t have believed you.

"I am grateful for everything that has happened this year and am hoping for a better year next year. I have had quite a few good days in football so I have to deal with the bad days as well.

"Everyone knows in football it is not always going to be good days, but it is just about dealing with them bad ones.”

Connolly, who signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with Brighton last January, is determined to add more goals but his head coach Graham Potter has been impressed by his contribution to the team.

Potter said, "If you think back to the Arsenal game, I thought he contributed enormously in terms of his pressing and his help for the team, his running in behind. He is that type of player who means defenders aren’t comfortable, so he opens up space for others.

“While, of course, we know he would want to score – that’s how he is and we would like him to score as well – he is not in the team necessarily for that solely."

Newick Pre-School has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for the third time.

Education bosses visited the pre-school in November and found its ‘high calibre staff used their expert knowledge to plan an extensive range of challenging activities’.

Teaching was outstanding, the Ofsted report said, and the curriculum was rich and exciting, enhanced by many visits into the local community.

Katy Elliott, manager at the school, commented: “I am very proud of the dedication, drive and commitment of my amazing team who continue to go above and beyond.

“The team are passionate about supporting the growth and development of all of the children in their care.

“We will continue to adapt and evolve to provide the best pre school setting that we can.”

Ms Elliott, who was described by inspectors as an ‘inspiring manager’, was praised for working tirelessly and showing relentless dedication towards providing the highest level of provision.

The Ofsted report added: “Every child’s needs are planned for meticulously.

“Children’s individual characters, personalities and learning styles are fully understood and respected by staff.

“The relationships between staff and children are exceptionally positive.

“Children’s safety is given the highest priority. Staff are extremely vigilant and help children understand about possible dangers, especially during visits within the local community.”

The pre-school was rated ‘outstanding’ at its last two inspections in October 2015 and November 2011.

Boris Johnson turned the General Election into a second referendum on leaving the EU with his slogan “Get Brexit done”.

As the Conservatives received only 43.6 per cent of the vote then the majority, 56.4 per cent, were clearly opposed to getting Brexit done. Boris Johnson should accept “the will of the people” and allow the UK to remain in the EU.

Caring Lady helps the homeless in Sussex this winter

Caring Worthing lady Laura Cullen organised a collection for the homeless this Christmas as she ‘lives in an area where you cannot turn a blind eye to people on the streets’.

Piles of clothing, toiletries, food and sleeping gear have been delivered to three separate homeless charities as a result.

Laura, who lives in Goring, is the area manager for Caring Lady Funeral Directors and one particularly cold day in December, she decided she needed to do what she could to help those who do not have a home this Christmas.

She said: “We live in an area where you can’t turn a blind eye to people on the streets, so we got our heads together to see how we could make the most out of the money we had.

“All of the charities have been very grateful. Speaking to each of them was really special but also meant we could learn more about how they help people.

“For example, the Clock Tower Sanctuary spends a lot of time cleaning people’s clothes, so we bought litres and litres of laundry liquid and fabric conditioner.

“We are lucky to have so many charities in the area who devote time and energy in helping the homeless. The donations were our way of saying thank you.”

Colleagues across the Sussex branches - in Shoreham, Worthing, Brighton, Hove and Peacehaven – donated more than £2,200 worth of goods.

Glenwood Lodge, a homeless hostel in Brighton, was given gloves, socks, shower gel, plates, cutlery and 48 individual gifts for the homeless people in their care.

The Clock Tower Sanctuary, which helps young homeless people in Brighton, received t-shirts, tracksuit bottoms, jeans, rucksacks, sleeping bags, laundry liquid, fabric conditioner, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, dishwasher tablets, anti-bacterial wipes, anti-bacterial soap and yoga mats.

Turning Tides, which supports the homeless in Worthing, Littlehampton, Horsham and East Grinstead, was given tea towels, mugs, cutlery, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, soft drinks, toilet cleaner and other treats.

Brighton and Hove Albion team news: Expected Premier League line-up vs Tottenham Hotspur on Boxing Day

$
0
0

Brighton and Hove Albion will attempt to do the double against Tottenham Hotspur as they travel to the north London on Boxing Day.

Two goals from striker Aaron Connolly sealed a memorable 3-0 triumph for Albion against Spurs at the Amex in October.

Tottenham have since installed Jose Mourinho as the new manager but they go into the match on the back of a 2-0 to Chelsea last Saturday. Graham Potter's Brighton also tasted a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Sheffield United and both teams will look to hit back in positive fashion.

Mourinho's men are seventh and six points above 13th placed Albion who have 20 points from 18 matches. So will Potter be tempted to tweak his line-up after last week's poor display against Sheffield United?

Defence: Adam Webster had a tough time against Sheffield United and Shane Duffy will be hoping for a recall to the starting XI. Lewis Dunk, who played superbly against Harry Kane last time out, will no doubt feature in the middle while Dan Burn, who has been an ever-present this season, will likely slot in at left back. Martin Montoya has started the previous two matches at right back but still faces competition from Steven Alzate.

Midfield: Dale Stephens and Davy Propper have started in the centre of midfield on each occasion when available for selection. Pascal Gross and Steven Alzate could battle it out for the right side of midfield while Leandro Trossard and Aaron Mooy will be in contention for the left. Yves Bissouma, who performed well against Crystal Palace and also during the second half against Sheffield United, will also hope to force his way in.

Attack: Aaron Connolly and Neal Maupay caused Tottenham all sorts of problems during the 3-0 win at the Amex and both are fit and firing once more. Expect the duo to rekindle their partnership and Glenn Murray will likely settle or a place on the bench, despite his second half appearance against Sheffield United. Leandro Trossard could also provide another attacking option if Aaron Mooy maintains his position on the left of midfield.

Predicted Tottenham line-up (3-4-2-1): Gazzaniga; Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Aurier, Sissoko, Dier, Rose; Lucas Moura, Alli; Kane

Unavailable: Lloris (Injured), Lamela (Injured), Davies (Injured), Son (Suspended)

Predicted Brighton line-up (4-3-3): Ryan; Montoya, Dunk, Webster, Burn; Mooy, Stephens, Propper; Gross, Maupay, Connolly

Unavailable: Izquierdo (knee), March (groin)

Referee: Graham Scott. Assistants: Neil Davies, Mark Scholes. Fourth official: Tim Robinson. VAR: Mike Dean. Assistant VAR: Constantine Hatzidakis.

When does Tottenham vs Brighton kick off? Thursday 26th December, 2019 – 12:30 (UK)

Sussex Police are continuing their searches this Christmas for missing firefighter Anthony Knott.

Anthony, 33, from Orpington, Kent, has been missing since Friday, December 20, and specialist teams from the emergency services have been carrying out searches in the area.

Chief Inspector Anita Turner said: “We have received support in the searches for Anthony from other emergency services and volunteers and for this we are extremely grateful. Members of the public have also been very helpful and we thank them for their support, however with the hazards posed by flooded areas we would ask the public to not search in these areas due to your personal safety.

“Despite it being Christmas, we are committed in our searches to find Anthony. Extensive house-to-house enquiries have been conducted and we are urging anyone who may have seen Anthony or have CCTV footage in this area to make contact with us. There is no information to say Anthony left the Lewes area and our searches will continue to focus in this location.

“There are increasing concerns for his welfare and there is a possibility Anthony may have come to harm but there is no current information to indicate that Anthony’s disappearance is due to crime.

“This will be an extremely difficult time for Anthony’s family and friends and we are seeking information and answers they so desperately need.”

Police said Anthony was visiting the Lamb pub in Fisher Street, when he became separated from his group. He was last seen there at around 7.30pm on Friday (20 December).

Extensive enquiries have been made in the Lewes area, with pubs, shops, fast food outlets, taxi, train and bus services being asked to look out for him. CCTV footage has also been reviewed as part of efforts to find Anthony, said police.

Anthony is described by police as white, approximately 6', of medium build and with medium-brown short gelled hair. He was wearing a black long-sleeve top, a dark denim suit-style jacket, dark denim jeans and black shoes.

Anyone who may have seen Anthony or who has other relevant information is asked to contact Sussex Police online or by phoning 101, quoting Operation Barnstaple. In an emergency, please dial 999.

Watch Adam Webster's goal for Brighton and Hove Albion against Tottenham Hotspur

Adam Webster netted his third goal of the season with the opener during Brighton's Boxing Day clash at Tottenham Hotspur.

Adam Webster is a real handful at set pieces and he met Pascal Gross' excellent freekick at the Tottenham Hotspure Stadium with a superb leap and powerful header beyond Gazzaniga.

It was a sweet moment for Webster who received an awful amount of stick following a couple of mistakes against Sheffield United last week.

Webster has made 14 Premier League appearances this season and scored three goals following his £20m summer arrival from Bristol City. Webster has also scored against Aston Villa and Arsenal this season.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho revealed his Christmas was ruined by his dog dying.

Speaking ahead of the Boxing Day match against Brighton and Hove Albion, Mourinho was asked how his Christmas was.

"To be honest, it was very sad because my dog died and my dog is my family," said a sad looking Mourinho

Mourinho's pet was a Yorkshire Terrier, named Leya.

Brighton took the lead against Jose Mourinho's Tottenham through Adam Webster but second half goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane sealed a 2-1 win for Spurs.

Tottenham's Dele Alli continues to be Jose Mourinho's leading light against Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton and Hove Albion preformed well but were undone by moments of individual excellence on Boxing Day at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Dele Alli continued to be the leading light of Jose Mourinho's reign at Tottenham as he scored the winner in a determined 2-1 victory.

Alli produced a brilliant first-time finish to give Spurs another Boxing Day win after Harry Kane had earlier cancelled out Adam Webster's opener.

Brighton, who won the reverse fixture 3-0 in October, had threatened to ruin that run as they were the better side in the first half and had Webster's opener to hang onto.

But they have now gone three games without a win and must prepare for another lunchtime kick-off against Bournemouth in 48 hours.

Even before the loss of his family pet Mourinho's mood had been soured by spending much of the build-up to this game talking about VAR and how it is killing the game and his feelings would only have worsened in the 25th minute as his side had a goal ruled out.

Spurs had laboured in the opening quarter to get in behind Brighton, so they went long as Harry Winks sent Kane clear.

The England captain finished in the usual accomplished manner, rolling past an onrushing Mat Ryan, but VAR official Mike Dean needed the perpendicular lines to rule Kane centimetres offside.

Brighton had been the better team and what happened 12 minutes later was perhaps inevitable.

Winks was adjudged to have fouled Ezequiel Schelotto on the left and Pascal Gross whipped in an inviting delivery which Webster climbed highest to power home.

Spurs were booed off by their fans at half-time, but they were immediately better after the break and needed only eight minutes to equalise.

Lucas Moura looked to have run into a blind alley but a lucky deflection saw the ball fall kindly to Kane and after Ryan saved his first attempt, the striker put the ball away at the second attempt.

It was his 10th goal of the Premier League season, the sixth successive season in which he has reached double figures.

There was no denying Spurs a second in the 72nd minute. It was a brilliant team move as Moura and Kane linked up with Christian Eriksen, the Dane's brilliant diagonal ball finding Serge Aurier for him to tee up Alli, whose cushioned first-time finish found the top corner.

Alli should have had a second in the 90th minute when Kane played him through, but Ryan produced a fine flying save to turn the ball over the crossbar.

Brighton have produced some good results and performances under Potter this season but they have also had a number of displays where they have performed well but walked away with nothing.

This was another such occasion and they will look to fire back in a crunch match at the Amex against Bournemouth in 48 hours time.

ALBION: Ryan, Schelotto (Bissouma 83), Duffy, Webster, Burn, Bernardo (Trossard 76), Alzate, Stephens, Mooy, Gross, Connolly (Maupay 68).

Little things mean a lot for Brighton boss Graham Potter after Tottenham loss

$

It's not the first time this season Brighton and Hove Albion have played well for little or no reward.

Brighton dominated the first half and led through a headed goal from Adam Webster after Pascal Gross' freekick. Jose Mourinho's Tottenham improved after the break and excellent finishes from Harry Kane and Dele Alli sealed an three points for Spurs.

It was quite harsh on Albion but getting nothing after playing well is also a recurring problem for their head coach Graham Potter and a growing source of frustration for their supporters

Potter said, "Players gave everything. Lots of positives for us. I feel for them in terms of coming away from it without anything but that is the Premier League. Small margins. We will recover quickly and go again.

"It is the little things we have to carry on working with. The details in the game. No matter what you do it is not that easy to get the points in the Premier League.

"Really pleased with the guys. It was difficult for some of the guys, their first game for a while. I thought we contributed to a good game."

Brighton are 15th in the Premier League on 20 points from 19 matches and face a crunch match against Bournemouth in 48 hours time. Bournemouth also have 20 from 19 and even have the same goal difference as Albion with minus six.

The win for Spurs takes them up to fifth place and keeps them in the running for the top four.

Mourinho said: "I am very happy with second half. We changed bits, I am not saying players were wrong but we changed bits and that makes a difference.

"The first half was not a disaster, we were playing a good game. It’s hard after a defeat to have confidence and we started poorly, it affects the confidence. In the second half the players put all the negative aside and were very strong in their performance."

On Brighton, the Spurs manager added: "They are a very good football team. They have a few giants who are very strong. They are strong in the air. They want to play good football. It makes it very difficult. They have monsters in the air and if affected the self esteem of our team."

Mourinho was also full of praise for Alli, a player who seems to have new lease of life since the new manager arrived.

"Another goal and another incredible performance and effort. The work rate was absolutely incredible from Dele. The little details are more important than what people look at. His attitude and fighting spirit was so good."

Arrival at Chelsea could not have been timed better for Australian

$

Sam Kerr’s arrival at Chelsea is imminent and with the Barclays FA Women’s Super League so finely poised at the turn of the year, Deanna Cooper insists the timing couldn’t be better.

Emma Hayes’ side have made an unbeaten start to the season but still find themselves four points adrift of reigning champions Arsenal despite beating them 2-1 at Kingsmeadow back in October.

Draws against Brighton and Liverpool and a postponed fixture with Everton have caused unwanted interruptions but the capture of Australian Kerr marks the most high-profile signing in the history of the WSL - and the most potentially exciting too.

And the 26-year-old, the record goalscorer for both the American and Australian domestic leagues and captain of her country, is landing at just the right time, according to Blues defender Cooper.

“If you look at our squad everyone is fighting for places every week,” said the 26-year-old.

“No one knows the starting XI from week to week because we’re full of world class players so adding another one to that is only going to make us better.

“It means we’re fighting for places which means training at a higher level, which means everyone is improving, so we’re actually buzzing for her to come in.”

Cooper’s own time with the Blues has been blighted by injury having suffered an ACL injury two years ago - the same injury that sadly ended her sister Catherine’s own career.

But Cooper finished 2019 on a high, making intermittent appearances under Hayes and even scoring against Reading in a mid-December FA Women’s Continental League Cup tie.

Even before the addition of Kerr, the Chelsea ranks are well stocked with world class talent, with the likes of Bethany England and Ji So-yun showing great form this season.

And by her own admission, it isn’t just a regular spot back in the team that Cooper is fighting for - her and her teammates want to win as much silverware as possible this year.

“We have a world class squad full of internationals so breaking back in is always going to be tough,” she added.

“We’re really lucky in that we’ve got a lot of people with great technique and I think our scoresheet has been showing that a lot of the different players who have scored.

“And its coming from different areas so it’s always good for us as a team not having to rely on one person.

“I have to say we’re going for everything this year so whether its the league, the cup, goal difference - it doesn’t really matter, we just want to be scoring goals.”

Police in Sussex are investigating the sudden death of a man in the early hours of today (Thursday, December 26).

The 34-year-old victim sustained head injuries after he was assaulted in North Street, Brighton, around 3.59am on Saturday (December 21), and detectives are seeking to determine if this incident contributed to the man’s death.

He was found at an address in Albany Villas, Hove.

Police said the cause of death remains under investigation at this stage, and anyone with any information is urged to report it online or call 101, quoting Operation Curve.

Four suspects were located and arrested at Brighton railway station shortly after the assault occurred, and a possible fifth suspect remains outstanding.

Sussex Police said three 18-year-old men and a 19-year-old man, all from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm, have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Adam Webster displays courage and class at Tottenham after his Sheffield United horror

$

If one man deserved to be on the winning team this Boxing Day perhaps it should have been Adam Webster.

The Brighton and Hove Albion defender has had to negotiate a tricky week following his poor display during the 1-0 home loss against Sheffield United last Saturday.

Webster, a £24m summer arrival from Bristol City, received plenty of stick from supporters and he might even have been dropped for the trip to Tottenham had it not been for an illness to his defensive colleague Lewis Dunk.

Webster maintained his spot but in the Premier League there is no such thing as easing your way back in gently, especially when you are up against one of the world's most lethal strikers in Harry Kane.

Defensively Webster was far more solid than his shaky display against Sheffiled United and he also popped up with his third goal of the season when he thumped home a header from Pascal Gross' excellent freekick.

It was a shame for him it wasn't the winner, as two moments of class from the two truly world class players on display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Harry Kane and Dele Alli - ensured Spurs claimed all three points.

"It wasn't a good performance from me last week," admitted Webster. "It was my fault for the goal (against Sheffield United). Hopefully I've bounced back and put that behind me now and just move on.

"It's disappointing not to get anything from the game, but we played well again, just gutted not to get anything. They've [Spurs] got a lot of quality in their team but I thought we dominated for large parts, we had a good chance at 1-0, couple of decisions didn't go our way, but that's football and we dust ourselves off and go again."

Head coach Graham Potter switched formation for Spurs and went with a defensive trio of Webster, Shane Duffy and Dan Burn. "It was very tight. I thought we played well together. It felt solid and we caused them a lot of problems from the shape. It was good to play with them [Burn and Duffy]."

Webster was involved in Kane's well-taken equaliser but the Albion defender was unfortunate his pass rebounded off Dale Stephen's leg and fall perfectly for Kane. His initial effort was saved by Maty Ryan but Kane reacted well to fire home at the second attempt.

"It's a big moment in the game, it's just so lucky," said the 24-year-old. "I tried to pass the ball past Dale [Stephens] and it's just hit him and would you believe it's gone to Harry Kane. It's just unfortunate. But big moments.

"Their front players have great movement. The movements out to Kane made it difficult for us. He's one of the best strikers in the world."

Premier League: Vinicius Junior key to Paul Pogba deal and Mbappe to Liverpool intensifies

Manchester United could be prepared to listen to a mega money offer from Real Madrid for their midfielder Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder is easing his way back to full fitness after an injury hit campaign.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane remains keen on landing Pogba and United are willing to listen if Real Madrid throw in Vinícius Júnior as part of the deal. £85m and Vinícius could get the deal over the line or a straight cash offer of £160m.

United would also target Philippe Coutinho and James Maddison in the summer should Pogba depart.

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold increased speculation that Kylian Mbappe could be joining him at Anfield. Alexander-Arnold produced a brilliant display against Leicester and capped his performance with a fine goal.

Later he tweeted a picture of himself celebrating, along with the message: "Anything Mbappe can do..." along with a 'crying laughing' emoji and the hashtag YNWA (You'll Never Walk Alone). Liverpool are lining up a bid for the £180million-rated Paris-Saint Germain striker.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants to bolster his squad and has his eyes on France midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The new Gunners boss wants the 24-year-old, on loan from Serie A side Juventus in January. Wilfried Ndidi has also impressed and Arsenal are planning a £40million January bid.

Hull’s Jarrod Bowen has a whole host of clubs keen to tempt him with Premier League riches. Aston Villa have joined West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton and Southampton all willing to spend £15m for the Championship striker.

Chelsea may be able to sign players now but their priority is keeping Willian who has impressed Blues boss Frank Lampard this season. The 31-year-old's contract runs out at the end of the season and the club are in talks on an extension with the Brazilian.

Lampard is however keen to spend cash on some fresh faces with Paris St-Germain's Germany winger Julian Draxler and 30-year-old Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye top of the list.

Leroy Sane is still expected to depart Manchester City at the end of the season. The Germany international is expected move to Bayern Munich in an £85m deal this summer.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka could soon be on his way from the Emirates. His agent says the 27-year-old Switzerland international is keen on a move to German club Hertha Berlin.

Last week with the absolute deluge we experienced the usual fast-flowing ‘river’ that gushes past my house on South Street, because of inadequate drainage, (which was already an issue before the additional houses we were ‘gifted’ by WDC were built) is now dangerous as the extra traffic from these houses see this road as a rat run to speed along en route to the bypass.

Our hourly bus is not sufficient for the villagers or the schoolchildren.

Our regular power cuts and also loss of broadband are an issue that most ‘new inhabitants’ would have a serious problem with.

Also the restrictions imposed on new houses by limited parking facilities create all sorts of issues when parking outside our own homes in South Street, both day and night.

If and when these houses are built, people cannot afford to buy them and any investigation will show that many building projects are on hold because it is not possible to sell the existing new houses.

As for folk buying houses in our village at present, the prices are so high that they are having to work extra hard just to pay off the mortgages and consequently have little or no time to become part of village life.

So we are constantly losing numbers in our clubs and societies.

Enough is enough. We do not need more houses.

Build them where they are needed.

Individuals need to understand the bible’s message of love and forgiveness

The next Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, has talked about not taking himself too seriously but all Bible-believing Christians should be seriously concerned about his statement that the Bible has to fit current culture’s beliefs.

The church needs to be able to understand the ever-changing prevailing culture but in each generation the church has the responsibility to proclaim that God’s truth, as detailed in the Bible, is unchanging, and help individuals understand and respond to its message of love and forgiveness whatever the current culture believes.
